Un palmarès des meilleurs albums des 2000's

Notre journaliste fait un récapitulatif musical des dix dernières années

À tous ceux qui ont été fortement déstabilisés par l’annonce de Billboard et la consécration de Nickelback comme meilleur groupe de la décennie, ne paniquez surtout pas. Il y a réellement de la bonne musique qui est parue dans les dix dernières années. De la musique qui a dû foncièrement se plier aux nouvelles normes de diffusion, mais qui, jusqu’à maintenant, a relevé le défi avec brio.

Considéré comme un fléau en début de décennie – parlez-en à Metallica et Dr. Dre –, Napster s’avère à être, avec le recul, une avant-garde percutante qui aura causé de graves blessures à l’industrie du disque. Par essai-erreur, les artistes et producteurs de ce monde ont dû se surpasser et se concurrencer dans un milieu invisible et quasi-anarchique regorgeant pourtant d’opportunités remarquables, à condition de bien savoir les saisir.

Parmi eux, les Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Lily Allen, M.I.A. et plus près de nous, Arcade Fire ont réussi le pari de s’adapter à Internet, ou plutôt de forcer les autres à éventuellement s’adapter eux aussi.

D’un côté strictement musical, les 2000’s auront été toutes aussi audacieuses. Si le rock a continué de fusionner avec d’autres courants qui l’ont rendu quelque fois presque méconnaissable – on pense à Radiohead entre autres –, c’est surtout le rap qui aura étendu remarquablement son hégémonie un peu partout en Occident et même ailleurs. De Jay-Z à OutKast en passant par Eminem et M.I.A., on aura vu l’enfant terrible du Bronx se métamorphoser, se retransformer, mourir (dixit Nas), puis revenir plus fort que jamais à chaque fois.

Mais, on se rappellera surtout des années 2000 pour la création d’une industrie alternative – ou indie si vous préférez – poussée à toute vitesse par les réseaux sociaux (blogs, MySpace,…) et une tonne de nouveaux médias en ligne de plus en plus puissants (en tête de liste, Pitchfork). Désormais, les ventes d’un album et son rayonnement commercial sur les radios ne suffisent plus pour garantir d’un grand succès : il faut aussi rayonner sur le net à travers une myriade de structures interactives.

Voici donc une liste de 400 albums qui ont marqué la dernière décennie, se basant équitablement sur le succès commercial et critique ainsi que sur une appréciation personnelle des plus subjectives.
